Philanthropy for Advancing Women’s Human Rights (PAWHR) is a powerful and dynamic network that mobilizes funders to support the women’s rights ecosystem. Collectively, its membership consists of twelve private foundations and philanthropic advisors who together leverage more than $200 million USD annually to advance women’s human rights. Members include: Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Channel Foundation, the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, Ford Foundation, Foundation for a Just Society, NoVo Foundation, Oak Foundation, Open Society Foundations, Sigrid Rausing Trust, Wallace Global Fund, Wellspring Philanthropic Fund, and William & Flora Hewlett Foundation.
PAWHR provides essential thought leadership, strategic advice, and mentorship to guide the Equality Fund’s grantmaking, investment, and strategic philanthropy. Through a program called PAWHR Up, we will take this collaboration even further, providing a chance for donors in the Equality Fund community to connect directly with PAWHR members working at the very forefront of global philanthropy. Together, we will seed new relationships and networks to deepen the feminist funding landscape in Canada and around the world.
