Hamro Palo boldly believes in a world where all adolescent girls, boys, and women have access to the skills and knowledge they need to create their own safe and healthy futures. Working in schools in some of Nepal’s most remote and rural villages, it has developed a renowned series of workshops, known as “Her Turn” and “His Chance,” that provide adolescent girls and boys with life-shaping lessons about their health, safety, and power as community activists and changemakers. Hamro Palo also hosts conferences where adolescent leaders from isolated communities can build skills and solidarity, as well as workshops that connect married girls and adolescent mothers to training on such topics as safety, family planning, financial literacy, negotiation, and communication. Through it all, girls and young women are in charge: guiding the programming, shaping and leading key advocacy efforts, designing allyship programs with boys, and more. Everything Hamro Polo does is guided by a fierce belief: “We want girls to live in a world where they realize their potential as community members and change-makers.”
