COVID-19 Response

COVID-19 does not discriminate. Unfortunately, the world still does.

COVID-19 has exacerbated gaps and inequities that have existed for lifetimes. In moments of crisis, we have an opportunity to bring our best selves and our best ideas to rebuild the world we want to live in.

For women, girls, and non-binary folks on the ground, this is only possible with access to critical resources.

Already, LGBTQ people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are organizing to protect their community against increased homophobia and transphobia. Grantee partners in India are re-organizing their capacity to work remotely despite cramped living quarters and limited access to the Internet.

The impacts of COVID-19 play out in real-time for everyone, but many women’s rights organizations could face extinction without a targeted effort to support and sustain them during this time.

The Equality Fund’s COVID-19 Response Fund raised urgent funds to support our existing and trusted grantee partners on the ground as they weather the crisis brought on by the pandemic. In July, thanks to the generous response to our COVID-19 Response Fund appeal, 18 grantee partners received additional critical resources. The COVID-19 Response Fund was available to our current partners to help respond to the impacts in their communities and/or to strengthen their capacity to work during the pandemic.
