Originally from Vancouver, Hilary Clauson is a gender equality professional with equal parts policy and program management experience. With the Equality Fund, Hilary engages in policy analysis and helps build partnerships toward shifting resources and power to women’s rights organizations and feminist movements globally.
Hilary’s university days saw her attend five universities on three continents in two languages, culminating in a Master’s degree in African Studies from Oxford University. She began her career in the federal public service, followed by Aga Khan Foundation Canada. A highlight includes meeting members of a women’s cooperative processing and selling mulberries in mountainous Tajikistan.
She discovered community philanthropy through volunteering with the Vancouver Foundation, and with the Equality Fund enjoys applying this knowledge in an international context.
In addition to gender equality and international development, her passions include storytelling, discovering new places, and frequenting the theatre. She recently became a mom and is writing a blog about gender equality and motherhood. A lifelong Girl Guide, Hilary is rarely caught without a smile (and a box of cookies to sell).
