Women’s Empowerment for Change (WE-Change) is a community-based organization committed to increasing the participation of lesbians, bisexual, and transgender women in social justice advocacy in Jamaica and the Caribbean. Founded in 2015, WE-Change was formed out of a need to strengthen the women’s movement within the LGBT community given LGBT advocacy spaces in Jamaica have been largely controlled by, and focused on men. WE-Change’s mission is focused on equipping women with the tools to advocate and become activists for the creation of a world that recognizes and protects the rights of all people, regardless of nationality, socioeconomic status, abilities, race, gender, or sexuality.
